New payment schemes for SSS monthly contributions

The Social Security System (SSS) released a memo last year for the new monthly contributions payment deadlines for employed, self-employed and voluntary members.

This new changes will start for the applicable month of June 2012 for monthly payment and June 30, 2012 for the quarterly payment.

The new deadline of payment for regular employers (ER) :

If the 10th digit of the Deadline of Payment
13 digit ER No. ends in: (following the applicable month)
1 - 2 10th day of every month
3 - 4 15th day of every month
5 - 6 20th day of every month
7 - 8 25th day of every month
9 - 0 Last day of every month

Example: If your ER No. is 03-1234567-8-016 with 8 as the 10th number, your deadline foryour monthly contributions for the applicable month of June is on July 25.

For household employers (HRs), self-employed (SE) and voluntary members (VM):

If the 10th digit of the Deadline of Payment
SS No. ends in: (following the applicable month)
1 - 2 10th day of every month
3 - 4 15th day of every month
5 - 6 20th day of every month
7 - 8 25th day of every month
9 - 0 Last day of every month

Example: If your SS No. is 01-2345678-9 with 9 being the 10th number, payment deadline for contributions and loans for the month of June 30, in case of quarterly payment is on July 31.

Palace still undecided on a higher monthly SSS contributions


SSS president and CEO Emilio de Quiros Jr made a plan last year to raise the monthly Social Security System (SSS) monthly contributions for its members. The Palace has yet to approve the said plan.

Through the president's spokesperson, Edwin Lacierda said that Presiden Benigno Aquino III is still undecided with the plan and he is still studying if it will be beneficiary to the Filipino employees.

The SSS office made public the plan of increasing the monthly contributions by 11% from 10.4% of the employees' monthly salaries in the private sector and employers will share an equal basis. If the plan will push through, it will add seven years to the life fund of SSS and will provide leeway for benefit enhancements.

SSS offers loan amnesty in April

SSS President and CEO Emilio de Quiros Jr announced on Monday that amnesty will given to all employees, self-employed workers and voluntary members of SSS with overdue loans to settle the unpaid accounts without paying the penalty in full under the new amnesty program that will start on April 2.

SSS will waive 100% of the penalties of delinquent accounts if this is not their fault such like employers not remitting the monthly amortization despite SSS deduction of loan payment in their salaries.

To be eligible in the amnesty program, SSS members must have at least 3 contributions within the last 6 months before the month of application and present proof that amortization was deducted in your pay slip/envelope, company certification and notarized affidavits.

SSS members can pay the principal and interest in full at 3% annual interest rate.

The Amnesty program will start on April 2 and deadline of applications will be on September 30.



SSS suspends loan payments, advances of pension for the typhoon hit CDO and Iligan

The Social Security System(SSS) will administer the calamity relief packages of all SSS members and pensioners who are victims of Typhoon Sendong in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan provinces with a six-month suspension of loan payments, and three-month advances for SSS pensioners, and reducing the interest rate of new loans under the SSS Housing Loan Program for Repairs/Improvements.

All members in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan with existing loans will have an option to apply for a six-month suspension in loan payments without penalties and extends the amortization term on housing loan for six months. Eligible members with salary loans can avail the early renewal of their loan with the balance deducted to their new loan. All members can apply for the early renewal of loan at the nearest SSS branches.

The SSS will also reduce the interest rate if members who will avail the Housing Loan Program for Repairs/Improvements by 13 % to 8% for members who were victims of the damage brought by Typhoon Sendong.

The maximum loanable amount is P300,000. application will start from January 1 to June 30, 2012.

For SSS pensioners, SSS will advance their pensions for February to April, 2012, the total amount will be credited to the pensioner's bank accounts by January 2012.

New online registration in SSS website

The Social Security System (SSS) is implementing a two-phase online registration for members in assuring a more accurate information of members to prevent failed registration or non-receipt of registration on email.

Phase 1 requires the members in providing basic information like SS number, name, date of birth and your email address. Upon filing and submission of the said info, these will be verified with your SSS records. If info submitted is correct, a message will appear and an email will be sent to your email address. The email sent will instruct you to click a link and continue with the registration.

Phase 2 will as you to provide more information of like address, your mother's maiden name, contact number and you be provided with a user id and password. Additional basic information also includes your employer's SSS number (if employed. Also for household help) or the Receipt No./Over-the-Counter (OTC) transaction number (for OFW and self-employed members only). If registration is accepted, you will receive an email to your email address with your user ID and password.
